Why Should You Create a Professional Portfolio
Professional portfolios give you a way to document progress as you complete your degree. After graduation, your portfolio can be used to demonstrate that you have the knowledge and skills needed for a particular job or post-graduate educational program. Be sure to update your portfolio frequently and revise as needed in order to keep a record of your accomplishments.

You will need a home page that tells the reader why it is important to continue exploring your portfolio. Consider writing a 2 or 3 paragraph “personal statement” that explains who you are and what made you decide on the career path you have chosen.
Make It Accessible!
Web accessibility means that all users are able to access your site. People with visual impairment may use tools called “screen readers” that make written content accessible. When screen readers find images, they look for a description of the image. When you include an image in your site, you make the image accessible by adding a description of the image. Most website creating tools like WordPress make it easy to add descriptions.
People who are deaf or hard of hearing rely on accurate closed captions in order to use content that is included in videos. Video editing tools like YouTube make it easy to add closed captions (auto captions are not accurate without proof reading).
